“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them.
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us … This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.
The law made nothing perfect, and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God. … We have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick … Lord our God … our hope is in you … God our Savior and … Christ Jesus our hope. … Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God. … The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world. … We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing.
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if people claim to have faith but have no deeds? Can such faith save them?
I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.
You are the light of the world. … A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
