1 John

This world in its present form is passing away

Though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. … We were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world.

The world languishes and withers

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

We have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. … The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Do not love the world or anything in the world

If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

Who is a God like you?

Who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.

His commands are not burdensome

For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life. … If you love me, keep my commands. … Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. … Anyone who loves me will

Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds

This is what the Lord said to me: “Make a yoke out of straps and crossbars and put it on your neck. … They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. … Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it. … His yoke

For the ear tests words as the tongue tastes food

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. … Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.

I will ask the Father and he will give you another advocate

When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. … And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth

We wait for the blessed hope God has given us

We are waiting for Jesus Christ to appear in all his glory. He is our great God and Savior.
