Ecclesiastes

Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded

I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.

Teach me, and I will be quiet

Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. … And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need

Take up your timbrels and go out to dance with the joyful

Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people .

A good name is better than fine perfume

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold. … Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. … In whom there is nothing false. … Who hunger and thirst for righteousness.

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands

Ask and it will be given to you

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Is anything too hard for the Lord?

Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. … I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. … Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you.

The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it … he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. … He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—he remains faithful forever. … Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes

Ask the former generation and find out what their ancestors learned, for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. … What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
