No one ever spoke the way this man does

The people were amazed at his teaching. … They were astonished at his teaching.

You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever. … The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. … His mouth is sweetness itself; he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, this is my friend.

All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips … because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. … The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. … For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
