If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!

For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.

They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; th sheey invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.

It is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends. … For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. … Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
