Easter Week – 20: Saturday Before Easter – Darkness 2

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness.

You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. … The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned … to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.

I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” … to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.

The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. … You, LORD, are my lamp; the LORD turns my darkness into light. … For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. … Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.
