Mark

The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath

The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices

The Lord is righteous; he does no wrong. Every new day he does not fail.

Anxiety weighs down the heart

So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body. … What do people get for all the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the sun? All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair. … We were harassed at every turn—conflicts on the outside, fears within.

The Lord will show you mercy

Who is a God like you? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. … The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven

Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.

Our citizenship is in heaven

And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. … Who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven.

I will show you whom you should fear

Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Give generously

She did what she could. … This poor widow has put in more than all the others. … They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.

For the ear tests words as the tongue tastes food

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. … Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.
